Bianca Maldonado, LCPC, ASDCS, C-PD, C-DBT

Bianca is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Business from Saint Xavier University, and Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Benedictine University. Bianca also studied Clinical Psychology at Midwestern University’s PsyD program.

Bianca is an ASDCS, Certified Autism Disorder Clinical Specialist. She also received her specialization training to become a Certified Personality Disorder Treatment Specialist, C-PD, with additional training to become a Certified Dialectical Behavioral Therapy Provider, C-DBT. Additionally, she received her level 1 certification from the University of Chicago to become a Gottman Method Certified Specialist, which provided intensive training for the treatment of partners in couples therapy. This has provided Bianca the education to focus on the treatment of multiple ranges of diagnoses, from Autism Spectrum Disorder to Borderline Personality Disorder to Couples Therapy.

Bianca was a Professor of Psychology, where she taught multiple courses, in addition to being a clinician. She has clinical experience working in private practice, inpatient hospital units, public schools, and research labs. Bianca has worked with children as young as 3 years old who have undergone trauma, ranging through clients in middle adulthood with various presenting problems. Her main areas of expertise include treating BPD, ASD, ADHD, ODD, eating disorders, substance use, and couples therapy.

Bianca uses an existential clinical technique that looks at the deeper meaning of the crises or instability in individual lives, focusing on the exploration and awareness of the dimensions of the person, rather than merely looking at the picture as a whole. Bianca’s therapeutic approach centers on Gestalt therapy, in addition to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Art Therapy, Family Systems Therapy, Marriage and Family Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Positive Psychology, depending on the client’s, couple’s or family’s presenting needs.

Bianca believes that personal growth can be achieved in any situation. Therapy is not a Band- Aid. It is a stepping stone. Empathy and a focused direction should be the foundation of the therapeutic environment.

In her free time, Bianca enjoys spending time with her family, playing the piano, exercising, reading, writing, and cooking.
